Research Interests

Axoglial interactions during myelination
: Our work focuses on a) elucidating axoglial interactions in the juxtaparanodal regions of myelinated fibers in health and demyelinating pathologies b) utilizing models of demyelination/remyelination in vivo and in vitro to test molecules that may influence these processes c) investigating the role of autophagy in CNS myelin homeostasis.
Neuronal migration and cortical interneuron development and function: Cortical Interneurons control the balance of excitation and inhibition and are implicated in  neurodevelopmental pathologies (epilepsy, autism, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder). We are studying the molecular, cellular and functional changes of cortical interneurons in two mouse models of decreased inhibition that we have generated due to the ablation of the small RhoGTPases Rac1 and 3.
